Tonic in the Cave

The American rock band Tonic, who have been nominated for two Grammys, visited RHW yesterday as part of the mini-concert series hosted by the Bakersfield based radio station, Kelly 95.3FM.  Even though it was a small crowd of 40, Tonic's presence was HUGE!  The band members really rocked the Cave and were even gracious enough to partake in a little Q & A for their fans.  After the concert tasters enjoyed some wine tasting and a gourmet lunch buffet on our Garden Terrace in the beautiful sun.  Great Wednesday!

Vedera Visits RHW!

Could this day be any better?

The sun was beaming and the frigid coldness finally burnt off for an awesome afternoon.  We were fully prepared to receive the bus with about 40 tasters who were going to visit the winery for a luncheon.  But, then we found out that there was much more in store for these particular guests of RHW.  As it turns out, Vedera, an incredibly talented and rightfully amazing upcoming band, suprised the tasters with a powerful and heartfilling performance in our 19,000 square foot Cavern...and they ROCKED it!  It was the perfect way to treat our special tasters and, if I do say so myself, the band has a wonderful taste in wine :)

Comedy Night @ RHW

Zin Fest Comedy Night...enough said! Doesn't it just feel good to sit down with great wine and share a laugh? Mike Pace, Emmy nominated comedian, is always willing to help those who seek a bellyache from hysterically laughing, so be prepared for his 21 and over show this upcoming March here at the winery. Remember, just because we zin no more doesn’t mean this event is going to be G-rated. It's going to be a hoot and I for one can't wait!

Getting Prepared for New Year's Eve!

It’s that time of year again – time to bring in the New Year. Our snazzy Casablanca themed New Year’s Eve Dinner is a “dress to impress event” that will surely be the talk of the town!

Check in and pre-dinner drinks will be in our Tasting Room. The elegantly appropriate Moroccan dinner will be catered by Chef Scott Adler and Chef James Hauser of Catering Unlimited in SLO. And the best part is, the whole meal will be paired with our luscious wines and served in our underground Cavern. After dinner we will move upstairs into our formal dining hall, the Meritage Room, to jazz along to the tunes by Funk 30. This is the event that will only get better as the clock turns 12am!

We have hotel rooms blocked off at the Paso Inn and La Quinta, so don’t worry about finding a place to stay. There’s also no need to worry about transportation – call the Grapeline and they’ll set you up!

What’s that? You want to make reservations? Give Chelsey a call at 805.239.1616 extension 24 or book your tickets online. And remember, “Here’s lookin’ at you, kid”.

Cavern Dinner for Two

From the Mrs. Jody Velto herself…

“The entire evening was fabulous. Chelsey was awesome in helping me put together a terrific surprise for my husband. I had called multiple wineries and none of them seemed to understand or had the capabilities to put together what I had envisioned. Chelsey and staff at Robert Hall made the evening so much better than I could have imagined. From the innocent wine tasting, where everyone except my husband knew what was going, on to the fabulous wines. The Hospitality Director, Jeanice, devoted all of her attention to the wines and us. They made us feel as if we were the only ones in the wine tasting room. Kevin, the assistant winemaker, proceeded to take us on a tour of the winery; he was great and very informative. The tour ended as we entered the wine cave.....it was fabulous!”

“As we walked down into the cave Andrea Boccelli was playing. The intent, as far as my husband knew, was to have a barrel tasting. He was surprised and inquired if they played music for the wine barrels. We turned the corner there was a table set with flowers, candles and the wine we had chosen upstairs for our meal catered by Catering Unlimited. Words can not describe the dramatic setting. I knew what was coming, and I was still shocked! I was truly, truly stunned by the ambiance and the setting, so you can only imagine how my husband must have felt. The setting was gorgeous. My husband got very emotional when he realized that this was for him. It was honestly the most dramatic setting I have ever seen. I was speechless...as was my husband for once!”

“The room was gorgeous and intimate and the food was amazing. The setting and build up to it was just unbelievable. It truly was like a dream date; something you would see on TV. Chelsey and everyone at Robert Hall did an amazing job. I highly recommend this winery if you want to show that someone special how very special they are. My husband actually said that next to the getting married and the birth of our kids, this was the absolute best evening he has ever had. I totally agree! My words don’t do justice to the evening.....you just have to give it a try and experience it....You will not be disappointed....I promise....”

Presenting Mr. and Mrs. Jensen

This past weekend’s wedding was one of our more rustic and chic of the season. Marc and Shannon knew exactly what they wanted and how to entrance their guests with romantic hues from start to finish. Their chocolate brown and marigold yellow colors portrayed a country meets classic theme. Needless to say, the couple seemed to be having the times of their lives, as they should on such a magical day!

As guests arrived they were ushered by Marc and his groomsmen downstairs to our Cavern for the ceremony, which was lighted with the climate-friendly battery operated votives. Don’t doubt their power though; these lights added just the right amount of brightness to highlight the smiles on everyone’s faces as Shannon walked down the aisle. The floral arrangements cascading down the two wine barrels at the altar, by Arlyne’s Flowers, radiated cheerfulness nearly as much as the couple.

Just before the reception family and friends munched on chips and salsa and carried on energetic conversations while the wedding party and immediate family finished up pictures with photographer, Lorie Chambless. As the heat finally began to evaporate, the guests were seated to for the grand entrance of Mr. and Mrs. Marc Jensen and to hear toasts from the Father of the Bride and others from the wedding party.

The dinner, catered by Chef Jeffrey Scott, was served buffet style and included two BBQ favorites: tri tip and chicken. As everyone “dug in” to their flavorsome meal and the sun began to set it was evident that much dancing was about to take place. DJ Beau Kramer shook up the crowd with an array of country and rock, which proved to be the best way to express the emotions the newlyweds were feeling. Underneath the twinkling paper lanterns strung up above and surrounded by the glowing votives decorating the tables, it was the end of an evening and the beginning of a lifetime of love for Marc and Shannon.

Congratulations and cheers!

All Stars: Mr. and Mrs. Tamas

Let’s talk about how adorably in love Chris and Jen are and how precious their wedding day was this past weekend! Brenda Boorman of A Heart to Heart wedding consulting had every detail planned down to the last rose petal for the ceremony, and it paid off BIG time. As Jen walked down the dimly lit Cavern it was evident that this Olympic couple would surely live a long, happy life together.

During the cocktail hour, which was mostly in the Courtyard and Amphitheatre, you could hear the friendly banter amongst the guests who were all eager to begin the “real” celebration that was soon to follow. McClure Pictures ushered away the wedding party and immediate family for their close ups, which turned out amazing with the cloudy background.

The reception, held in our Amphitheatre, decorated in chocolate brown and white gathered all of the couple’s family and friends for a charming evening. The bushels of lavender on every table articulated a defined calmness, which was magnified with by the relaxed attitude of the whole wedding overall. Cahoots Catering team served a feast of a dinner done BBQ style and dancing followed shortly after with live entertainment from the band, Oasis.

With so much laughter and the “Olé, olé, olé, olé!!!” chanting it was hard to determine if we were at a live volleyball game or Chris and Jen’s wedding…until you saw the transcendent couple donning their newlywed smiles even despite the on and off sprinkles from up above. But as the saying goes, it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day!

Good play, Mr. and Mrs. Tamas!!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Graham

What a beautiful wedding for a genuinely beautiful couple! You could feel the love surrounding all of the family and friends as they watched Matt and Sarah kiss in our underground Cavern. The candle light atmosphere was perfection at its best and as the couple exited, finally joined in holy matrimony, everyone knew it was time to celebrate!

Guests carried on bubbly conversations by the bubble bar during the cocktail hour on our Garden Terrace. It was evident that everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves as they munched on the scrumptious treats from Testa Catering.

The reception, held in the Amphitheatre, seated the 340 guests comfortably and was lighted by Kramer Entertainment. The vibrant centerpieces and bouquets of tangerine orange and eggplant purple from Festive Designs definitely caught the essence of the couple’s lives together and what they have to look forward to: a deep passion for one another and a love for life.

As the couple’s favorite music played the Rhone de Robles and Viognier ran freely, and all you could see were smiles. The final dance to a classic wedding song “The Time of My Life” was a wonderful ending to a stunning evening. The most heartwarming memory was seeing the bride and groom sneak an endearing kiss as they held hands and left Robert Hall Winery.

Congratulations Sarah and Matt!
