Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Southern France’s leading red grape is at home in Paso Robles. Brilliant ruby red in color, our Grenache flaunts aromas reminiscent of ripe wild strawberries, pomegranate, currant and spice intertwined with bright fruit flavors. On the palate, soft silky tannins and excellent depth of flavor carry through to the finish of this medium-bodied wine.
Vineyard Notes
Our 2007 Paso Robles Grenache is the product of sun-loving Rhone varietals grown at great Paso Robles vineyards; the Grenache originates in the sandy soils of the alluvial terraces located at the confluence of the Estrella and Salinas Rivers, this is accented by a small portion of very intense mountain Syrah. The combination of these vineyards yields a wine that shows the bright exuberance of Grenache brought to complete maturity in the gently rolling hills of Paso Robles.
Production Notes
Our 2007 Grenache was produced from hand-harvested grapes picked in mid-September. Fermentation and maceration lasted 10 days and was assisted by traditional hand pump-over to maximize color and flavor release. Subsequent to fermentation, the wine was drawn off and the skins were pressed. After a short settling period, the wine was racked into French oak puncheons where it completed malolactic fermentation and matured for 16 months. Prior to bottling the wine received a final racking to stainless steel where the blend was assembled and the wine was prepared for bottling.
