Environmental Policy

Robert Hall Winery operations shall pro­duce prod­ucts that meet inter­nal and cus­tomer qual­i­ty expec­ta­tions while oper­at­ing in an envi­ron­men­tal­ly sus­tain­able and respon­si­ble man­ner. Robert Hall Winery’s man­age­ment team is com­mit­ted to imple­ment­ing an effec­tive Envi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Sys­tem (EMS) to accom­plish our busi­ness objec­tives while also ful­fill­ing our respon­si­bil­i­ty to the envi­ron­ment.

To min­i­mize our envi­ron­men­tal impact con­cern­ing our activ­i­ties, prod­ucts, and ser­vices, Robert Hall Winery shall:

  • Conduct business in such a way that environmental challenges are managed as an integral part of current and changing business strategies;
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and laws and maintain our compliance commitments and obligations;
  • Review each aspect of our activities to develop a complete understanding of their actual and potential environmental impact both within our operational sites as well as to our neighbors surrounding these sites;
  • Determine and implement control methods to ensure the potential for negative environmental impacts from our operations are limited;
  • Promote the reduction of waste, minimize the consumption of resources, and pollution prevention;
  • Monitor and track over time the consumption of resources and activities that may have an environmental impact from our operation.
  • Pursue sustainability initiatives that promote zero waste and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Protect and conserve water resources by monitoring water use, reducing consumption where feasible, implementing efficiency measure, and preventing contamination of surface and groundwater through responsible operational practices.
  • Minimize air emissions by identifying emission sources, reducing pollutants through operational controls and best-available technologies, and continually evaluating opportunities to improve air quality performance across our facilities.
  • Preserve and enhance biodiversity by assessing the ecological impacts of our operations, protecting native habitats surrounding our facilities, and integrating biodiversity considerations into land‑use, resource management, and sustainability initiatives.

Robert Hall Winery has adopted a goal to continuously improve the reduction of remaining residue that goes to landfills or incinerators by at least 1% of baseline disposal each year. New targets for reduction will be re-evaluated annually in the first quarter. Robert Hall is committed to continuous improvement that will address WTE disposal, zero waste initiatives, Environmentally Preferred Purchasing (EPP), and other sustainability-based business principles. These policies include but are not limited to:

  • Preference for durable goods.
  • Preference for sustainably produced paper and wood products.
  • Preference for used, refurbished and/or remanufactured goods over new items.
  • Preference for vendors that align with our sustainability goals and initiatives.
  • Preference for digital systems that reduce Robert Hall’s impact on paper consumption.
  • Preference for EPP items.
  • Preference for water-efficiency initiatives
  • Preference for air-emission reduction
  • Preference for biodiversity protection

Robert Hall Winery is com­mit­ted to con­tin­u­ous improve­ment of the EMS. This pol­i­cy shall be com­mu­ni­cat­ed to our inter­nal teams and exter­nal stake­hold­ers and will be made pub­licly available.
