Tasting Notes
Featuring apple and lemon peel aromas with a hint of vanilla spice, our Chardonnay is a bright straw gold color. Rich from oak aging, this wine exhibits flavors of poached pear and butterscotch. The wine is round and medium bodied with a balancing acidity and toasty oak that lengthens the finish.
Winemaker Notes
2018 began with a wet cool spring, which delayed bud break and extended flowering, leading to shatter in some areas. In Mid-April, some areas frosted, further delaying set and the season. A 40-day heat wave in July and August created challenges in most areas. By late August, temperatures remained mild throughout harvest. On average, harvest was 2 weeks later than recent vintages. The initial cool temperatures and heat wave led vines to produce smaller clusters and berries, creating dark, phenolically dense wines. 2018 is shaping up to be a great vintage in Paso Robles with excellent maturity and aging potential.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with cheese, charcuterie, seafood and chicken dishes.
