Vintage 2022 began with a mild start with lower-than-average rainfall in continuation of our regions drought. Bud break came slightly early, likely due to dry conditions. We had a few springtime frosts that effected crop and uniformity in lower elevation areas of Paso Robles. Summer temperatures remained average until late August. For 10 days we experienced 110-degree heat. The heat effected vine canopies greatly, leading to accelerated maturity in the vineyard. Harvest began on August 9th, with most white grapes picked before the heat. After the heat, conditions were average to mild, with our harvest season finishing at the end of October. The 2022 harvest was a challenging one, we have found wines to have good structure with ripe and concentrated flavors.
